This document is a Defense Intelligence Reference Document (DIRD), a technical reference format used by the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) to capture baseline knowledge on a specific topic for later analytic use. DIRDs are best understood as reference and synthesis products rather than as original research. It is one of 38 DIRDs produced under the Advanced Aerospace Weapon System Applications Program (AAWSAP) between 2009 and 2011. Because AAWSAP’s scope permitted a broad range of supporting topics, not every DIRD in the series directly concerns aerospace systems or future threat assessment. The following summary reflects the DIRD’s scope and framing at the time of writing and should not be read as implying current validation of the concepts discussed.This DIRD surveys reported acute and subacute injuries allegedly associated with close exposure to anomalous field effects, attempting to draw tentative parallels between these claimed symptoms and the known physiological effects of intense radiofrequency .and microwave exposure on human tissue. By reviewing medical and biophysical literature on heating, burns, neurological effects, and sensory disturbances, the report speculates on theoretical mechanisms by which intense electromagnetic fields might account for some of the reported injury patterns, though it does not establish a direct causal link between the reported injuries and any specific source. It hypothesizes that clinical symptoms and reported exposure circumstances might allow for highly constrained, limited inferences regarding the characteristics of an unknown emitter or propulsion system. Notably, the document’s findings rely heavily on case comparisons lacking physical examinations, untestable exposure conditions, and a mix of established science and more controversial literature. These comparisons are then extended to anomalous-craft scenarios, attempting to map known electromagnetic injury mechanisms onto anomalous encounter claims that lack independent scientific validation in the report. Redactions have been made to protect the identity of eyewitnesses, the location of government facilities, or potentially sensitive information about military sites not related to UAP. No redactions have been made to any files released under President Trump's directive concerning information about the nature or existence of any encounter reported as a UAP or related phenomena.

הקדמה
לפני כמה שנים חוו שלושה אנשים, שהיו קודם לכן בריאים ופעילים, אירוע אווירו-חללי חריג ["לא סדיר, לא הולם ובלתי עקבי עם התחום שלהם"]. בתוך 72 שעות הופיעו אצלם סימנים ותסמינים רפואיים [השפעות חריפות ותת-חריפות].
• אלה כללו אדמנת (erythema – חום ואדמומיות) כמעט מיידית על פני העור החשוף [למקור המשוער של קרינה אלקטרומגנטית], ובדרגות משתנות, כפונקציה של זמני החשיפה של פני גופם, גם את אלה: חום, כאב, כאבי ראש, נימול ותחושות עקצוץ (פרסתזיות), תחושת חולי כללית, שלשולים, נשירת שיער והתקרחות (אלופציה), פריחות ושחינים בעור, דפיקות לב, ראשיתם של כאבי ראש שהפכו לכרוניים, ותסמינים של נדודי שינה והפרעות שינה וחלומות אחרות, חרדה בינונית ולעתים חמורה ונדודי שינה. שניים מהאנשים סבלו גם מפוטופוביה (רגישות קיצונית לאור), עיניים יבשות, מגרדות וצורבות, ולובן עין (sclera) מודלק ואדום במיוחד, עם נפיחות ברקמות הרכות של העפעפיים. אחד מהשלושה סבל מדיסקרזיה בינונית של הדם ומסימנים של מחלת קרינה, ובמהלך כמה שנים פיתח סימנים של התמרה ממאירה.

Preface and Summary
PREFACE
Several years ago three previous fit and active individuals experienced an
anomalous ["irregular, incongruous and inconsistent with their domain"]
aerospace-related event. Within 72 hours they suffered medical signs and
symptoms [acute and subacute effects].
•
These included almost immediate erythema (heat and redness) over
exposed [to the presumed source of an electromagnetic radiation] skin,
and varying degrees of the following as a function of their body-surface
exposure times: fever, pain, headaches, numbness and parasthesiae,
malaise, diarrhea, loss of hair and alopecia, skin eruptions/boils, cardiac
palpitations, beginnings of what were to become chronic headaches and
symptoms of insomnia and other sleep and dream disturbances, moderate
to occasional severe anxiety and insomnia. Two of the persons also
experienced photophobia (extreme sensitivity to light), dry and scratchy­
stinging eyes, and extreme inflamed blood-shot sclerae (whites of the
eyes) with soft tissue swelling of the eyelids. One of the three experienced
moderate blood dyscrasia and signs of radiation illness, and over several
years developed signs of malignant transformations.
